Zum Hauptinhalt

This trip goes to the roadless hay fields on Nyre. With the exception of a steep hill after about 200 meters (Kleivabakken), the path runs in easy terrain along the fjord with nice coves and rocky cliffs. The trip gives a great view of the entire Lusterfjorden to Skjolden.

HISTORY:

The footpath has been used for many generations to guide livestock to open fields and to the hayfields along the fjord.

Towns along the way:

The port. Anchorage and harbor since the 19th century. In the area around the harbor there have been a total of 8 homesteads.

Mosaviki. Until the late 1970s, a small water-driven sawmill stood here. Here there were also two homesteads and an orchard.

Artnes. Remains of an excavated burial mound. Here, and in earlier times, stood a reed tree for sparrow reeds. Between Artnes and Djupeviki you will find the remains of the Solvorn shooting team's oldest shooting range.

Nyre. Mowers in use until the 1960s. Further out along the fjord and up into the field are a number of old haystacks. These were very important for the small farms in Solvorn. There were also several small orchards here.
