The title 20 ½ stems from the fact that this is the artist's separate exhibition number 21, where the fraction indicates that the exhibition is an ongoing process; the exhibition is not ready until it has had an interaction with the audience.
The paintings are part of a group of works with the title «growths from the subconscious», where memory plays an important role and only the titles show the connection the work has to plants. Among the paintings, we find works such as Golden Star (Gagea Lutea), Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) and Rose Root (Rhodiola Rosea).
The work is made using transparent layers of colours that can be perceived as monochrome, but the colours that have been used are partly visible in the outer edges of the painting and reveal that layers upon layers of paint have been laid.
In the stable, Tinglum shows the series New Alphabet. It consists of woodcuts of the 29 letters of the Norwegian alphabet. One interpretation of the word letter is book letter and the artist has therefore chosen wood as the material for the print.
The woodcut has been constructed by removing as little as possible from a shape so that it still indicates a letter.
