Anne-Sophie Blytt, who lives in Bergen, has visited our region before (Stavanger Kunstforening 2005). At the time she was described as an aristocrat of painting by art critic Trond Borgen.

This designation still suits her. Because in Anne-Sophie's art you will find something distinguished and refined. Her use of the tempera technique gives her paintings a gentle touch, a distinctive beauty and matt texture. A discerning selection of muted colour tones dominates. The non-figurative idiom consists of combinations of geometric fields, such as vertical and horizontal rectangles and shifting planes. This creates a tight compositional grid pattern. But it never becomes impersonal; on the contrary, the artist's graceful, playful lines give the images a rhythmic lightness that makes them vibrate and come alive. Anne-Sophie works on the surface, but the artworks work in depth through their perfect harmony of translucency and painterly richness, of tension and stillness.

Welcome to an aesthetic display of the rare.
Welcome to a sensuous universe!
Welcome to an encounter with an aristocrat of painting.

The exhibition is supported by Bildende Kunstneres Hjelpefond.
