The hotel was designed in the 1960s by the renowned architect Geir Grung and was built as part of the Norsk Hydro power facility, Røldal-Suldal Kraft, along with several residential houses and the power station itself. The distinctive concrete brutalism breaks with what is expected of the architectural style in a West Norwegian rural area.

Energihotellet offers 29 rooms with comfortable beds, showers, and TVs. Both the rooms, the dining room, and the lounge offer the same fantastic view of Suldalsvatnet lake and the mountains.

In the restaurant, you can enjoy delightful dishes made from local ingredients while sitting in the original furniture from the 1960s.

The hotel is owned and operated by the couple Gunhild Moe and Olav Lindseth. Gunhild has an art background and Olav has a background in economics. They are both passionately interested in architecture and love living in Suldal and showcasing everything the area has to offer.
