Kapittel is one of the largest and most renowned literary events in Scandinavia, with a strong focus on freedom of speech and social issues. Around 150 guests are invited to a festival featuring stage conversations, lectures, readings, documentary films and a children’s program. Kapittel aims to bring new literary voices to its audience and to be a venue for a wide range of fiction and non-fiction from Norwegian and international writers.

Festival theme is Hope in 2023

Every year the festival has a theme. In 2023 the theme is Hope, inspired by the ongoing fight for freedom in Ukraine and Iran. The festival programme will be launched during spring and summer.
