The journey to our majestic fjord landscape is often shorter than you may think. It is also both fascinating and exciting, in that the journey in itself is a major attraction. This is true whether you come by road, sea, air or rail. The change from the wide-open high mountain plateaus and valleys of Eastern Norway to the narrow West Country mountains and deep fjords is fascinating.
The options for travel will depend on when you plan to visit, as some of the mountain passes like Trollstigen Mountain Road and Geiranger Mountain Road are closed during the period mid November to mid May. The ferry services on the Geirangerfjord between Hellesylt and Geiranger are also suspended between November and April. Read more about how to get to Geiranger all year round.
