You are here Places to go Hardangerfjord
For decades Hardanger has been one of the most important tourist destinations in Norway. The attractions that drew visitors to Hardanger more than 100 years ago are the same attractions that draw tourists today; the fjords, glaciers, mountains and waterfalls. In 1904, Odda was Norway's most important cruise port, with 88 ships docking in the harbour. The oldest hotels in Hardanger date from the 1700s and at Utne Hotel, which dates from 1722, you can really sense its long history.
Hike to Trolltunga (the Troll’s tongue): Trolltunga is one of the Norway’s most spectacular rock formations. The round-trip takes 10-12 hours with an elevation of around 900 meters. You must be physically fit and well-equipped for a hike in the mountains. Usually the season lasts from mid June until mid September. A map and further information can be found at the tourist information centre in Odda. Read more about Trolltunga

Aga was a very large farm estate and the Court of Appeals Lodge was built around 1250. There’s a cosy café, exhibitions and guided tours throughout the summer. Read more about Agatunet
