We recommend all visitors to include
fjords, waterfalls, coasts and glaciers on their trip.
Fjord arms and waterfalls are accessible virtually everywhere you travel in Fjord Norway, while
glaciers are often a little more off the beaten track.
Why not visit the offshoots of the Jostedalsbreen glacier at
Briksdalsbreen near Stryn, Nigardsbreen in Jostedalen or Bøyabreen in Fjærland, a glacier arm which is literally right beside the main road. You should also try to get in some summer skiing, either on the Folgefonna glacier in Hardanger or at the Stryn Summer Ski Centre.
You should also experience the culture of Fjord Norway. Did you know that Bryggen (the Hanseatic Wharf) in Bergen and Urnes stave church in Luster are on
UNESCO’s World Heritage List? Did you know that an opera festival is held every year in Kristiansund, or that every June you can sit down at the world’s largest herring table in Florø and eat the ”silver darlings” to your heart’s content?
What about visiting the jazz festival at Voss, or the Gladmat food festival in Stavanger? Look up
our list of events, to find out what's on.
