Biking

Fjord Norway is a paradise for cyclists who are looking for active experiences in beautiful surroundings. There are plenty of opportunities for world-class road cycling, fantastic cycling routes and an increasing number of cycling paths and trails for those who want to explore cycling in the forest, countryside or mountains.

One of the most scenic and well-known cycling routes is the Navvies’ Road (Rallarvegen), which goes from Haugastøl to Flåm and down to the Sognefjord. Another highlight is the hairpin bends up the Trollstigen road and the Ørnesvingen viewpoint at the World Heritage Site the Geirangerfjord. Cycling in this beautiful fjord landscape is an experience you’ll never forget!

Close to Geiranger is the Romsdalen valley, a great area for cycling. Here you can enjoy the beautiful scenery on a cycling trip along the fjord. If you are looking for bigger challenges, try the Trollveien road from Åndalsnes, Norway’s longest uphill stretch.

The cycling route along the Hardangerfjord is an 89-km long route along fjords and mountains in spectacular scenery. The round trip starts in Rosendal in Hardanger. Another great option is the coastal route, where the island of Austevoll makes a good starting point.

There is also a great cycling route between Bergen and Voss, which brings you close to nature as you cycle past fjords, rivers, waterfalls and mountains.

The Classic Fjord Tour

The Classic Fjord Tour is a road biking route starting on the northwestern coast of Fjord Norway, venturing into a mountain region where the road leads to the famous Trollstigen and Geiranger and hidden gems in the Hjørundfjord. This tour is well suited for active people who have biking experience and want to test their skills on hairpin bends climbing up steep mountain roads, and for the experienced biker who is looking for a new and unique adventure.

The Majestic Fjord Tour

This incredible biking adventure combines magnificent fjords, charming villages and impressive mountains. The bike route starts from the mountain town of Voss and heads north towards the Sognefjord and Sunnfjord before circling back to Bergen via express boat.

Want to combine a cycling trip with other outdoor activities?

Voss is the capital of extreme sports. Here you can take part in a multitude of outdoor challenges, such as skydiving, white-water rafting and kayaking, as well as fishing and hunting.
