This is an affordable 4 hours excursion with adventures for your body, soul and taste buds!
The fjord coast north of Bergen is fantastic, and at Lygra you will find open landscape, breathtaking views, total tranquility and a complete contrast to the busy city life.
When you arrive at Lygra, a local guide will meet you and follow you to the Heathland Centre. On the way, you will learn about the special cultural history landscape.
In the restaurant you will be served breakfast with wherever possible ingredients from the surrounding farms. The breakfast menu varies by season, but examples are homebaked bread, eggs from local free range chickens, homemade cold cuts and cheese. If you have any special needs or allergens, please tell us, and we fix alternative food.
After the breakfast you can watch a film about the coastal heathland. You can rent a bike or fishing equipment for 100 NOK, or go for a pleasant wander in the beautiful, historic landscape that has received awards from Unesco. Easy to follow paths lead you past Viking grave mounds and through a plethora of flora, fauna and biologicial diversity.
Or maybe you just want to relax and enjoy the peaceful silence, soak up the stunning views of the fjord and mountains? If you're lucky, maybe you can watch Sea Eagles and wild sheep before the boat takes you back to Bergen. This boat trip goes with the ordinary Norled departure, and because of this, you have to by the boat ticket online, and breakfast with guiding and film have to be paid directly at Lyngheisenteret (The Heathland Centre) on arrival, NOK 304 (cash, all major credit cards or Vipps)

Departure from Bergen at 8.00, arrival Lygra 8.40.
Return 10.55, arrival in Bergen 11.50.
Departure from Strandkaiterminalen next to the Tourist Information. Return is at the same place.
Walking distance from the quay to Lyngheisenteret (The Heathland Centre) takes about 10 minutes.
There are some steps up from the quay which would present a challenge to those using baby buggies or a wheelchair. The path is graveled and can be wet. It is not possible to drive by car
The Heathland Centre was opened by Queen Sonja in 2000. Today it represents the only European location where in an organized and preserved area you can experience authentic Heathland farmed by local farmers.
It is a museum, coming under the umbrella group Museum Centre of Hordaland, with the main focus of convey the coastal culture from western Norway in addition to the protection of heath.
The information building has a restaurant, meeting room, auditorium, and museum shop.
In 2001 The Heathland Centre got the UNESCO's global cultural landscape prize for the conservation of the cultural landscape.
In 2005 the Heathland Centre awarded Europe Nostra's Cultural Landscape award for its pioneering role in the protection of authentic heathland, and the maintenance of its biological diversity and traditional knowledge ' EUROPANOSTRA.
Accommodation tips: Lygra Guesthouse and Magnusgården, both delightful old properties offering comfortable overnight accommodation in the peace and quiet of Lygra.
The tour must be booked minimum 2 days before departure. (This trip can also be booked at the Tourist Information, latest the day before departure)

Your order is then 100% confirmed. If you do not receive this email, please contact us on e-mail booking@visitBergen.com as soon as possible. You can print the tickets or show on your mobile device when boarding.
Tickets cannot be changed.
Tickets can be cancelled up until 7 days before departure, for a fee of NOK 250 per person. Cancellations must be made by email to booking@visitBergen.com
Bookings cannot be cancelled or refunded 7 days or less before departure.
