You don't have to know how to ski to enjoy winter in Fjord Norway. A city break? Surfing anyone? A trip in a dog sledge? Maybe a trip to an ice cave will suit you better?
Yes, you can surf in Fjord Norway, all year - even in the midle of the winter! Swells from both southwest and northwest land on the on Ervikstranda beach. In Hoddevik, you can surf even during really bad winter weather, due to the surrounding mountains that shelters the beach. Find out more at stadsurfing.com. Should you need a break from skiing, or if you are simply looking for a winter experience that doesn't require a special effort, then dog sledding may be right for you. Fjordhusky in Sogndal is happy to take you on a dog sledding trip, and you can choose between an hour trip, half day trip or all day.
Would you like to experience a wonderland of ice and colour? Join a tour to the magical ice kingdom underneath the Nigarsbreen glacier and explore the blue-ice caves. This adventure is available between December and April and is accessible for most people.
You can take part in snowshoe trips around the region, and the same applies to RIB trips on the icy fjord. At Myrkdalen near Voss you can try various activities such as sleigh rides and sledding, or ice fishing.
