The Hjørundfjord is a 33 km long arm of the Storfjord, located in Sunnmøre Alps heartland with pointed mountain peaks that encircle the bay on both sides.
At the north end the fjord is 2.5 km wide, and the deepest point is 441 metres, and it's only an hour and a half away from Hellesylt, where you can take the ferry to
Geiranger.
The Hjørundfjord is regarded by many as one of the most beautiful fjords in the world, and the Sunnmøre Alps are also a magnet for those who want to enjoy the wild and beautiful nature all year round.
Why not experience the fjord with a
Hjørundfjord cruise? There are daily departures from Ålesund in July and August, and includes a 2-course lunch at the luxurious Hotel Union Øye. It is also possible to combine the trip with an overnight stop at
Hotel Union Øye and return by boat the next day.
