How to get here
Starting in Åndalsnes, it is easy to get to the starting point for the hike to
Romsdalseggen by car or bus.
Åndalsnes is the mountain capital of Norway and the little town is situated between
Molde and
Ålesund. You can take the bus to the starting point of the route at Vengedalen, which runs from July 1st until September 30th. The hike will bring you back to Åndalsnes.
Arrival
Åndalsnes is situated in Rauma municipality in Møre and Romsdal. You can take the train or drive on the road E136 from Dombås. If you are driving from Molde, proceed in an Eastern direction on the road RV64, and those travelling from Ålesund, drive east on road E39 and E136.
Transportation to the starting point for the hike
The
bus to the start point of the Romsdalseggen hike departs from Åndalsnes station every morning. If you plan to return to the starting point after reaching the summit (instead of continuing down to Åndalsnes), you can purche a return ticket to Åndalsnes from the bus driver. The bus operates every day in July through September.
It is also possible to hike to Romsedalseggen by starting in Åndalsnes and hike towards Vengedalen. Ensure you plan enough time to catch the bus back to Åndalsnes in the afternoon.
Parking
It is recommended to park next to Rauma Cultural House behind the Grand Hotel Bellevue, a mere four-minute walk to the station.
Alternatively you can drive your car to Vengedalen and take the bus back to Åndalsnes to start the trip from there. Please note there is a toll road up to Vengedalen (cash only).
