By train

The nearest train station is Åndalsnes, which is connected to Oslo and Trondheim via Dombås.

By plane

The two nearest airports are Vigra in Ålesund or Molde airport.

By car

From Oslo

  • Drive via Gudbrandsdalen and Strynefjellet: follow the road marked E6 and pass Otta, then on the road RV 15 to Grotli. Important information: route 63 (Trollstigen) is closed during winter. In the summer months, drive along the road marked RV 63 for 13 Km after Grotli and continue to Trollstigen.
  • Drive via Gudbrandsdalen and Romsdalen: follow E6 via Hamar to Lillehammer or road marked E4 via Gjøvik to Lillehammer. Continue along E6 to Dombås and then follow the road marked E136 across Lesja to Romsdalen. Important information: in the summer months, take the exit to RV 63 about 5 Km before Åndalsnes. In the winter, exit to the road marked RV 650 via Stordal or continue to Linge and then exit RV 63.

From Bergen

  • Drive via Førde and Stryn: follow the road marked E39 to Førde and Byrkjelo and take the exit to RV 60 towards Stryn. Continue to Hellesylt on RV 15 and RV 60. From Hellesylt, continue on RV 60 to Stranda. From there, route 650 and 63 to Trollstigen.

From Stryn

  • The 170 km long route from Langvatnet at Strynefjell to Trollstigen (road marked RV63), is a great road trip. From Eidsdal to Linge you travel by ferry and it is possible to combine a car trip with a fjord cruise. This way you get the best views of spectacular fjords and mountains in Geiranger and Trollstigen, all in one day. See Geiranger and the spectacular view points Flydalsjuvet and Ørnesvingen on the way.
