Trolltunga
Trolltunga is one of the most spectacular scenic cliffs in Norway, hovering 700 metres above Lake Ringedalsvatnet in Odda.
The nature in Hardanger is powerful, and those who take on the hiking trip to Trolltunga will definitely experience something quite unique and challenging. The hike to Trolltunga is a daunting adventure, and not for the faint hearted. Ascending to the top, you will experience that you are floating, especially if you dare to walk out to the tip of the “Tongue” (PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND WATCH YOUR STEP).
From the very top you can indulge in the dramatic fjord landscape and enjoy the view towards the glacier Folgefonna. Imagine the feeling when standing, perhaps sitting out there at the tip, almost floating between the sky and the water, an almost surreal and truly sensational feeling.
The unique rock Trolltunga is hanging 700 metres above the lake Ringedalsvatnet in Skjeggedal, at 1100 metres above sea level. It takes approximately 4 to 5 hours walk to the summit from the end of the road in Skjeggedal.
The hike to Trolltunga is only possible during summer and the season is short. The hike takes approximately twelve hours return from the parking lot in Skjeggedal.
If you want to hike to Trolltunga while in Norway, we recommend that you do so with an experienced guide. Fjord Tours offers a guided tour to Trolltunga.
