The everyday man saves the day and receives an unexpected visitor
In A History of Violence we meet the soft-spoken Tom Stall and his nuclear family. Tom lives in a tiny town out in the countryside, and seems to thrive in his job as a café owner. He has a pleasant wife (Maria Bello), a nice little house and a modest income – Tom Stall is quite simply the everyday man. Late one evening two thugs drop into the café just before closing time, and Tom immediately senses trouble.
