Beiggja is the result of a spontaneous musical collaboration that emerged in the winter of 2024 and was captured on the quartet’s debut album Morning, released this summer on Hubro.
During the winter hibernation, pianist Kjetil Mulelid, saxophonist Kika Sprangers, bassist Mats Eilertsen and drummer Per Oddvar Johansen gathered in the latter’s home in Lommedalen. Everyone brought a few tunes and ideas, then they pressed the record button and let the interplay take shape. It turned out to be a beautiful first meeting, which grew into the recording of the album.
