Britt-Synnøve Johansen is the small woman with the big voice and a rare gift for communication. She has sung Edith Piaf in Norwegian, tango in Norwegian, and her own and others’ music, all filled with great emotion.
On her new release, Kveldslys, the mood is calmer; the lyrics are mature, wistful and reflective.
Yet it is still warm and endlessly beautiful. Like an evening bathed in soft light.
Kveldslys was recorded live with highly skilled and dedicated musicians. It is a tender, intimate and honest album. In terms of genre, this is Norwegian folk songs, but the album also reaches towards French chanson, jazz and Americana. All at once.
