With the catchy and slightly mysterious name corto.alto – and a reputation as one of the most vibrant live bands on the British jazz scene – this is a collective that leaves a clear mark wherever they play. In 2026, Moldejazz is on their way, and we are incredibly excited to welcome them!

Corto.alto is a modern jazz collective led by trombonist and producer Liam Shortall. The band consists of some of the most exciting young musicians in British jazz, and together they create an original and distinctive sound universe with drums, winds, synths, strings and guitars. The music is driven by strong melodies, clear jazz elements and a heavy, pulsating groove – danceable, experimental and melodically rich at the same time.

The name Corto.alto, which means “short, high” in Spanish, reflects both the band’s contrasts and the creative power that flows from Glasgow’s live music scene. Shortall's interest in hip-hop, soul, club music and experimental jazz shines through in every track, and the result is music that sucks you in and makes you want to hear more, more, more.

It is precisely this energy that has given Corto.alto a place at major international festivals, sold-out tours and increasing global attention. Now it is Molde's turn.
