In The Third Man, based on Graham Greene's screenplay, we encounter Orson Welles in one of his most celebrated performances as an actor.
The film is set in post-war Vienna, then divided between the Allied occupation powers - a city in ruins, bathed in shadows and rebuilt as the perfect backdrop for noir. The American Holly Martins, a writer of pulp fiction, arrives in the city to meet childhood friend Harry Lime in hopes of work.
