Helvetes Indre Kretser and Audible Music present three Nordic heavyweights:
MORPHOLITH (Iceland)
Icelandic Morpholith have made a strong mark since their live debut in 2017. With the EPs Void Emissions (2018) and Null Dimensions (2020), and the debut album Dystopian Distributions of Mass Produced Narcotics (2024), they deliver viscous, riff‑driven doom/sludge inspired by Iceland’s raw and volcanic landscapes.
They have played festivals such as Wacken Open Air, Høstsabbat, Iceland Airwaves, Sonic Ritual, Sátan Metal Festival and many others both at home and abroad. After their show at Høstsabbat in 2024, they were described as “crushing doom and psychedelic sludge that made the walls shake.”
The band is also behind the festival Reykjadoom in Reykjavík, where they have booked names like High On Fire, Conan, Ufomammut, Weedeater and Konvent, as well as Norwegian acts Sâver, Dwaal and Golden Core.
DWAAL (Norway)
Oslo‑based Dwaal have established themselves as one of Norway’s most uncompromising and atmospheric live bands. With their ultra‑heavy blend of sludge, doom and post‑metal, they create a massive and immersive wall of sound – often compared to Amenra, Neurosis and Cult of Luna.
Since forming in 2014 they have released two albums on Dark Essence Records. Their latest album, Never Enough (2023), earned them a Spellemann nomination in metal. They have played festivals such as Høstsabbat, Inferno Metal Festival, Midgardsblot, Beyond the Gates and Mystic Festival.
GRAVA (Faroe Islands/Denmark)
Grava play crushingly heavy and atmospheric sludge metal, where bottomless riffs, pulsating bass and doomsday drums meet two grim vocals. The Faroese/Danish trio from Copenhagen was formed in 2020 and released their debut album Weight of a God in 2022. Its intense portrayal of the moment of death gained major attention and landed on multiple top‑10 year‑end lists. They have played A Colossal Weekend, Uhørt Festival, and supported Ufomammut and Katla.
In 2024, the follow‑up The Great White Nothing was released. The album deals with the catastrophic Franklin expedition and other dark historical events, delivered through short, intense and disciplined tracks. The result is a focused and crushingly heavy sludge experience.
Three countries. Three bands. One night.
