A Latin American Baroque Christmas returns with a concert devoted to colonial Colombia, then part of the Viceroyalty of New Granada, one of South America's most active musical centres, with Bogotá Cathedral at its heart. The programme brings together sacred and instrumental works by José de Cascante, Juan de Herrera and others, alongside instrumental music from peninsular Spain.
Performers: Hilde Annine Hasselberg and Ingvill Mjeldheim Holter (soprano), Tyler David Ray (tenor), Ørjan Hartveit (bass), Henrikke Gjermundsen Rynning (viola da gamba), Thor-Harald Johnsen (Baroque guitar and theorbo), Hans Knut Sveen (harpsichord and organ), Owen Weaver (percussion), Jostein Gundersen (recorder), and Dimas Martínez Dubost (director).
An event by CANTA in collaboration with Currentes and Bergen Barokk, with support from Bergen Kommune, Vestland fylkeskommune and the Embassy of Spain in Norway.
