— New silver heritage.

This year's season closes in the meeting between Engegårdkvartetten and one of the Nordic region's most prominent musical personalities: Olli Mustonen. The Finnish pianist, composer and conductor has over several decades been compared to figures such as Rachmaninov and Busoni — musicians who have not confined themselves to just one role in musical life.

Engegårdkvartetten has a close relationship with Mustonen as a composer. They gave the world premiere of his first string quartet, and a few years ago recorded his piano quintet with Mustonen at the piano. The Strad described the recording as «carried forward by biting force, conviction and technical ease». This Friday evening they bring this work to us.

The programme is framed by Beethoven's beautiful Harp Quartet and Brahms' dramatic violin sonata in D minor — with Arvid Engegård in interplay with Olli Mustonen. Welcome to the season finale!
