HAPPY BLUE:
HAPPY BLUE creates their distinctive and beautiful musical universe through a blend of sparkling improvisations and powerful melodies. We place ourselves in kinship with other artists who combine jazz and improvisation with post-rock influence and indie, such as Bad Plus and Moskus. Reksten and Haukedal see themselves as musical all-rounders, with the ability to support others but also to take strong soloistic responsibility. Kristiansen has a more dialogic approach, with uninterrupted, delicate melodic and rhythmic commentary to the soloist and on the songs. Wouter Torringa is a new addition to the group, contributing virtuosic soloistic passages and painterly extended techniques. Together we create an elevated rhythmic music!
Uma B. Reksten - double bass
Markus Kristiansen - drums
Martin S. Haukedal - guitar
Wouter Torringa - viola
SOMERSAULT:
Somersault is a band for the moment. They draw inspiration from post-rock, American primitive guitar, the singer/songwriter tradition, noise and folk music, and use this to challenge typical song formats. The music is both unpredictable and captivating, rough and beautiful at the same time with down-to-earth lyrics and recognisable fingerpicking.
With references to Robbie Basho, Tortoise, Harry Partch, Caroline and Nick Drake it is never boring and always wonderful. The result is a hypnotic, warm and raw expression that both moves and surprises.
In October 2025 Somersault went to Røros and recorded an incredibly fine record at Studio Martin.
