Hjerteslag
Ever since emerging from Bergen’s underground music scene, Hjerteslag have been one of Norway’s finest and most popular rock bands. Built around vocalist Robert Eidevik’s unmistakable and distinctive songwriting and lyrical style, the band have helped shape a sound that combines melodic, noisy and street-poetic Norwegian-language music.
In 2026, the band released their sixth album, Vi har kommet for å stjele dine barn (We Have Come to Steal Your Children). The album has received outstanding reviews, including praise from Popklikk, who write:
“Robert Eidevik is clearly made of star material and has an indomitable determination to deliver time and time again, combined with a unique ability to stumble upon the catchiest melodies and the coolest song titles. On Vi har kommet…, Hjerteslag sound more Swedish than ever, embracing the sound of Nordic post-punk. In the best possible way.”
With their comeback album Tyvens Dagbok and the subsequent autumn 2022 tour, Hjerteslag reclaimed their position as one of Norway’s leading rock bands. At the same time, frontman Robert Eidevik entered what he describes as a new phase of life, finding himself reflecting on life more than ever before and revisiting stories from his childhood. In a creative whirlwind, he wrote song after song, and before long another Hjerteslag album was ready – at record speed.
On Betonglandskap (Concrete Landscape), released in 2024, Robert created a lyrical universe inspired by growing up among concrete tower blocks in a somewhat run-down and noisy suburb outside Bergen. The lyrics draw on personal experiences and reflections, while also telling stories that many others can relate to. The songs also seek to give a voice to those on the margins of society: the people struggling on the streets and those facing addiction and mental health challenges. These are stories about finding a place in the world while standing alone, caught in all the things that make us different.
