Last year, Kvitsøy municipality hosted not just one, but two festivals in October – namely ‘Hode over vann’ and ‘Hummerhelg’.
‘Hode over vann’ is Kvitsøy’s way of marking World Mental Health Day and conveys the event’s annual theme through everyday joy and a sense of community, rooted in the Norwegian Institute of Public Health’s five steps to quality of life. At the same time, ‘Hummerhelg’ has highlighted Kvitsøy’s identity, cultural heritage and proud traditions through concerts, talks, food and experiences.
Now, the two festivals are merging into a single festival that will bring together the best of both events – with a focus on community, culture, the joy of life and what makes Kvitsøy unique. The aim is to create a meeting place for both residents and visitors, where the island’s identity, stories and people take centre stage.
