A personal, funny and sharp theatrical monologue
In HOMOPHIL HOMOPHOBE, actor Karl-Vidar Lende draws on his own life story: his journey out of a Christian evangelical community as a gay man, and the comparable experience of rejection within the urban gay community. He can step right into the homophobic mindset while keeping his gay heart intact, and dance into the night, embracing the underworld of gay club culture with Christian-conservative values tucked into his bum bag.
HOMOPHIL HOMOPHOBE is a theatrical monologue where opponents of homosexuality, young gay people, deeply religious people and everyone else can see themselves, be heard – and be gently mocked.
The performance plays in the space between the worldview of the congregation and a glitter-filled queer community that celebrates sexuality and diversity. It is personal, funny and sharp, exploring faith, identity and belonging.
