Jaga Jazzist

For more than three decades, Jaga Jazzist has been one of the country’s most limitless and visionary bands – a collective that has redefined what Norwegian music can be. Since their inception in Tønsberg in 1994, the sibling trio Horntveth and their musical companions have created an expression that is impossible to place: an explosive mix of post-rock, jazz, electronica and psychedelic soundscapes. Jaga has always been one step ahead – always on the move.

The band’s international breakthrough came in the early 2000s through their collaboration with Ninja Tune, and albums such as A Livingroom Hush, One-Armed Bandit and Starfire have made them cult favorites all over the world. In 2020, they released Pyramid on Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder label – an album that solidified their position as one of the Nordic region’s most important experimental ensembles.

With a long tradition of using the stage as a laboratory, Jaga Jazzist is at their most electric when testing out the future live.

When Jaga Jazzist takes over Teatret Vårt this Friday night, you can expect a suggestive, cinematic and uncompromisingly creative concert experience.
