Known as «Satchmo», «Satch» and «Pops», trumpeter and singer Louis Armstrong was one of the most influential figures of the 20th century, with a career spanning more than five decades and multiple eras of jazz. With his instantly recognisable, rich and raspy voice Armstrong was also an influential singer and skilled improviser. Towards the end of his life Armstrong's influence had spread to popular music in general. He was one of the first popular African-American entertainers to «cross over» to broad popularity among both white and international audiences.
Alphonso Horne is an exceptionally talented trumpeter and singer from New York. The multiple GRAMMY-nominated artist delights audiences with his soulful tone and dramatic flair. As the true expression of class and eclecticism, Alphonso has collaborated with artists from all genres and disciplines, including Wynton Marsalis, Patti LaBelle and Rihanna. Alphonso is currently appearing on Broadway in the new musical "A Wonderful World - The Louis Armstrong Musical" where he performs Armstrong's most popular songs. In a tribute to the iconic music of Louis Armstrong we invite you to an unforgettable evening at Ole Bull Scene together with Alphonso Horne and Norsk Jazzorkester with Felix Peikli. Welcome to "The Music of Louis Armstrong"!
