Kaja Draksler in Stavanger – BlåTrå
The Slovenian pianist and composer Kaja Draksler was due to visit Stavanger in February as part of SJF’s BlåTrå series. Unfortunately, the visit had to be cancelled due to illness, but new dates have now been arranged – and there is great excitement about welcoming Draksler to Stavanger.
The visit will give young performers the opportunity to learn from and work alongside Kaja Draksler during two days of workshops. Audiences in Stavanger will also have the opportunity to experience this unique performer live in concert at Spor 5 – for the first time in Stavanger.
Draksler is a prominent name on the European jazz and improvisation scene, known for her boundary-free musical expression, where jazz, free improvisation and contemporary music come together in a creative and explosive mix.
In 2018, Draksler received the prestigious Paul Acket Award at the North Sea Jazz Festival, joining artists such as Donny McCaslin and Tigran Hamasyan among its recipients.
Draksler has collaborated with a wide range of leading musicians and been involved in numerous projects, including a duo with pianist Eve Risser and work with musicians such as Petter Eldh, Terrie Ex and Susanna Santos. She also leads her own projects, including her Octet.
