Zum Hauptinhalt

In Seksti kilo solskinn (2026), Norwegians arrive in Iceland around the year 1900, while the protagonist, Gestur, grows up alongside Iceland’s transformation into a modern nation. In the second novel, Seksti kilo juling, Gestur’s journey continues beyond Iceland.

Icelandic author Hallgrímur Helgason topped the Norwegian bestseller lists when the first volume of his vibrant literary epic about 20th-century Iceland was published last winter. The second instalment in the series will be released this autumn. Helgason will be interviewed by author Terje Torkildsen.

The event is part of Kapittel – Stavanger International Festival of Literature and Freedom of Expression, 16–20 September 2026. More information, the programme and tickets can be found at www.kapittel.no.

At some events at Sølvberget and during the Kapittel Festival, photographs and video recordings are taken for documentation purposes and for use on social media.
