Welcome to a musical book talk with Stian Carstensen and Lars Elling!
The double album Musical Sanatorium is, to date, the most significant work by multi-instrumentalist and composer Stian Carstensen. Author Lars Elling followed Carstensen closely throughout the long and difficult process of completing the work, witnessing the hardships he endured along the way. The result is the book At the Gate of the Forest of Silence.
During the Kapittel Festival, Elling and Carstensen come together for a conversation about friendship, art and the unruly mind, genius and madness, grief, aesthetics, and the healing power of music. The event will also include readings from the book and live music performed by Stian Carstensen.
