Uncovered tells the story of how women's sexuality has been understood, misunderstood, pathologised and subjected to attempted cures throughout the past 3,000 years of medical history. It reveals how the definition of the female body and women's sexuality has always been a battleground, where women have been labelled as whores, witches and saints; diagnosed as nymphomaniacs and asexual; hysterical, frigid and suffering from "virgin's disease".
Author and doctor Nina Brochmann explores how myths and power, disguised as science, continue to shape attitudes towards women's sexuality today.
Following the talk, everyone is invited to join a walk or run. Come dressed for exercise if you'd like to run 5 kilometres, or simply come as you are if you'd prefer to walk 3 kilometres. Bags and coats can be left in a locked room at Sølvberget, which is both the starting point and the finish of the route.
Nina Brochmann is a doctor and author. In 2026 she published Uncovered: The Troubled History of Women's Sexuality in Medicine. She previously co-authored The Wonder Down Under, The Boys Book and The Girls Book with Ellen Støkken Dahl.
