Kopfkino is a staged conversation between eight women who share stories from their work as submissives or dominatrices within the BDSM community. Seven speak from personal experience, while one is an actress.
This film is not for the faint-hearted. The women's stories and discussions reveal aspects of the human condition that some may prefer not to confront. For others, it may resemble a biblical tale of sin, grace and redemption. Through its performative nature and its exploration of staging and representation, Kopfkino becomes a work of contemporary film philosophy.
Lene Berg is a filmmaker and artist based in Oslo and Berlin. She studied at the Dramatiska Institutet in Stockholm and has directed numerous films, as well as exhibiting her work nationally and internationally. Berg's autobiographical film False Belief premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2019. She received the Elephant Award at the Momentum Biennale in 2000 and has also been awarded the Lorck Schive Art Prize. She represented Norway at the 55th Venice Biennale and was the featured Festival Exhibition artist at Bergen Kunsthall in 2022. Her critically acclaimed debut novel, Fra far, was published by Kolon Forlag in 2023.
This event is presented in collaboration with the Stavanger House of Literature. It forms part of Kapittel – Stavanger International Festival of Literature and Freedom of Expression, taking place from 16–20 September 2026.
