Welcome to a workshop on literary mediation with Boklek facilitator Marianne Sundal. The course is suitable for staff working in kindergartens, primary schools, after-school clubs (SFO), libraries, and anyone involved in promoting literature to children aged 5–8. You will receive practical, hands-on tips for play-based literary mediation aimed at children who are beginning to master reading.

Literary Mediation Workshop

The course is based on experiences from the national reading initiatives Boklek and Les og Lek, which use play-based methods to create engaging reading experiences for children transitioning from kindergarten to primary school. The workshop is organised in collaboration with the Norwegian Festival of Literature, The LESE Foundation, Kapittel, and the Rogaland County Library, with support from the Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training.
Boklek is a reading initiative in which all preschool children are invited, together with their kindergarten, to an annual literary event at their local library. In Rogaland, children also receive a free book and a reading poster. Boklek was established by the Norwegian Festival of Literature and the Innlandet County Library in 2012 and launched in Rogaland in 2024.
Les og Lek ("Read and Play") is a reading initiative offering games and activities linked to selected picture books. A new book is introduced each month, and learning resources are currently available for more than 20 titles. The project was initiated by the LESE Foundation in 2022 in collaboration with Kunst i Skolen, OsloMet, and Nesodden Teaterfabrikk.
