Tahmasbi Khorasani is a poet, author and researcher from Afghanistan, now a guest writer in Stavanger through the International Cities of Refuge Network. In his home country, he was a prominent voice in the cultural scene. He is particularly interested in the pre-Islamic cultural heritage of Iran and Afghanistan, with a focus on Zoroastrianism. When the Taliban issued a fatwa against him, he was forced to flee the country with his wife, Mozghan Faramesh, who is also a poet.
Kaveh Ayreek is an author, actor, theatre director and short-film producer, and belongs to Afghanistan’s Hazara minority. His work primarily focuses on women, children and the persecution of ethnic, linguistic and gender minorities in his home country. He and his wife, Fatima, who is also a theatre director and collaborator, were subjected to threats, persecution and attacks. Days before the Taliban seized Kabul in August 2021, Ayreek and his wife fled Afghanistan. Ayreek is now a guest writer in Bergen through the International Cities of Refuge Network.
The conversations take place in Dari and Norwegian and are moderated by translator, editor and poet Johanne Fronth-Nygren. The event is organised in collaboration with the Norwegian Association of Literary Translators.
