Some authors are so renowned that they are known by a single name. The French writer Colette is one of them. Her classic The Break of Day (La Naissance du Jour, 1928) is a rich exploration of women’s lives and the relationship between mothers and daughters.
Many books have been written about women’s sexual awakening. The Break of Day instead focuses on the second half of life, without becoming gloomy. Sølvberget’s Tomas Gustafsson and Professor Janne Stigen Drangsholt have read the novel and once again bring their delightfully impossible book club together for a lively debrief at Sølvberget.
