Zum Hauptinhalt

After Dr Nina Brochmann’s talk on women’s health, a social walk is on offer, with a choice between walking and running.

The walking route is approximately 2.5 km. The running group Lause livmødre leads the run, following a route of approximately 4 km. The group was founded by a group of friends from Bryne. Its name is inspired by the now-discredited idea that a woman’s uterus could become detached if she ran too fast or too far. This idea contributed to women being excluded from marathon running until 1969 and from the Holmenkollen Relay until 1975.

After the exercise, the group heads to a pub for refreshments. Belongings can be left at Sølvberget, where both the walking and running routes finish.

The event is part of Kapittel – Stavanger International Festival of Literature and Freedom of Speech, 16–20 September 2026. More information, the programme and tickets are available at www.kapittel.no.

At some events at Sølvberget and during the Kapittel festival, photographs and video are taken for documentation and use on social media.
