This warm and humorous animated film has long since become a Christmas classic
The story of Karl-Bertil Jonsson has been shown on Swedish TV every single Christmas for over 25 years, and has almost achieved cult status here in Norway as well.
The film is based on a story by Tage Danielsson and is about the idealistic, upright and compassionate Karl-Bertil Jonsson. He has a Christmas job at the post office, where he sorts parcels. Although he comes from a wealthy home, Robin Hood is his great role model, and this Christmas Karl-Bertil decides to follow in the hero's footsteps.
In secret he sets aside all the parcels addressed to wealthy people, and on Christmas Eve he borrows his father's Santa Claus costume to give the gifts to the poor. They thank Karl-Bertil, but at home a very different reception awaits: his mother is crying, and his disappointed father exclaims: «Jag har närt en kommunist vid min barm!»
The saga of Karl-Bertil Jonsson's Christmas is a funny and heartwarming Christmas film, with a clear message to both young and old that community and solidarity are more important than material goods.
