Agoja is led by the Norwegian pianist and composer Kjetil Mulelid. The music is rooted in the Scandinavian jazz tradition, while at the same time moving far beyond the Nordic musical landscape. It flows seamlessly between the intimate and the grand, and combines hymn-like passages, baroque-inspired motifs and subtle grooves with stillness, space and shimmering sonic details. The result is atmospheric and cinematic music - melancholic, playful and deeply expressive - often described as sonic poetry.
