Two Souls, One Thought

If there were an opportunity to say something to a younger version of oneself, what would it be?

Growing up is no easy matter. Not for people, and not for dandelions either (yes, that is actually their name). The challenges on the way towards the sunlight can sometimes be many and strong. Yet, year after year, something manages to grow up and forward in places where it was never thought possible.

It is easy to forget what lies behind this growth that is often taken for granted. Through water, pressure is created (turgor pressure) that allows plants to grow and remain upright. In some dandelion roots, this pressure can equal that of a car tyre. So yes, it is true that a dandelion can break through asphalt – not with loud mechanical force, but with a quiet rebellion of persistent will.

“Dandelion” is a performance about seeing and nurturing the will to grow. Whether it is the unyielding will that can break through barriers, or the underestimated will that silently supports plants, people, and structures.

Kim Fairchild and Espen Hana are two well-known and beloved performers. In this production, they generously share their talents, personal experiences, and determination. Five young performers from Ungdomsteatret contribute additional vitality and emerging talent.

The musical foundation of the performance is substantial. Mathias Eick / Simen Kiil Halvorsen (trumpet), Audun Erlien (bass), Pål Hausken (drums), and Morten Røsbak form the jazz quartet, which together with Espen and Kim leads the audience through an atmospheric evening at the Main Stage.
