Lykksaligheten (av en plutselig død) is a musical-scenic production based on the poetry collection of the same name. The book consists of three scenic-lyrical parts that depict a love relationship from falling in love to break-up, through a language that gradually breaks down in step with the relationship's dissolution.
In this band project the author and musicians explore how improvised and composed music can amplify the text's rhythms, breaks and emotional shifts. Two actors carry the text through its stages of falling in love, unease and dissolution. The book examines among other things the inadequacy of language: how the limitations of grammar create misunderstandings, negative expectations and emotional distance. In the production the music functions as a parallel language – an expression of everything that cannot be said. The improvisatory nature of the music mirrors the text's dissolution, its rhythmic displacements and emotional leaps.
