The iconic Sami-Norwegian artist and activist Mari Boine turns 70 this year, and marks the occasion with an extensive anniversary tour.
Through more than four decades Mari Boine has been one of the country's most boundary-pushing and significant artists. With an expression that moves seamlessly between joik, jazz, folk music, rock and electronic elements, she has, together with her musicians, created a completely unique musical language that continues to inspire generations of listeners, both in and outside Norway.
Boine is a prominent voice, who throughout her entire career has challenged boundaries and brought Sami culture, history and identity forward into public consciousness. At the same time she has created music that unites audiences across national borders and language barriers.
Recent years have also shown that Boine is still an artist in constant development. After reaching a new and wider audience through Hver gang vi møtes, which was followed by extensive touring and new music, Mari Boine continues to renew her expression. This autumn she invites audiences on a tour that looks back on an extraordinary career while at the same time pointing forward. Audiences can expect powerful musical moments, songs from the entire catalogue, including ALVA (her latest album) and an artist who still possesses the same power, presence and artistic curiosity she has become known for.
