«A bass slappin’ funk noodle» – Maya Vik is back.
«I’m a bass slappin’ funk noodle who likes to dress up,» says Maya Vik – and that sums her up pretty perfectly.
May-Britt «Maya» Vik is a musician from Bergen with a long and colourful career. She has played bass and bass synth in Montée, and has previously been part of the bands Furia, Savoy and Chris Lee. As a solo artist, she debuted in 2011 with the album Château Faux-Coupe, and has since released three albums.
After nearly a ten-year break, Maya Vik returned in 2024 with the album Hustlebot – a long-awaited comeback from one of Norway’s most distinctive voices in funk and R&B.
The album is packed with top-level musical collaborations, featuring contributions from Jarle Bernhoft, Håkon Kornstad, Initial Talk (Japan), Morgan Phalen (USA), Haakon-Marius Pettersen, Chris Lee, Marius Simonsen and Siri Stranger. The result is an album that both boosts your energy and pushes you forward – exactly as Maya herself describes it: music that enhances performance.
Now she’s ready to take the stage as part of Bergen Live Sessions on Tuesday 3 February!
