On 11 November, Strømklang and nyMusikk welcome one of the world’s leading artists in electronic music and 3D sound.
Natasha Barrett (NO/UK) is an internationally acclaimed composer, performer and multimedia artist. Her work ranges from acousmatic music and live electronics to sound installations and interactive multimedia works. She is regarded as a pioneer in the artistic use of 3D sound and ambisonics, and continually explores new technologies and experimental working methods.
She has created commissioned works performed around the world, including at festivals and institutions such as the Venice Biennale (Italy), Ultima Festival (Norway), IRCAM’s ManiFeste (France) and EMPAC (USA). Barrett has received awards in more than 35 international competitions, including the Nordic Council Music Prize, the most prestigious award for Nordic composers. Until 2022, she was a professor at the Norwegian Academy of Music.
Strømklang is a concert series for experimental electronic music in Stavanger, established in 2024. The series takes place at Folken and is curated by John Derek Bishop. Audiences can experience exciting concerts with Norwegian and international artists working across ambient, electronica and other exploratory musical forms.
The concert series is supported by the Norwegian Arts Council and the City of Stavanger.
