Stageway & All Things Live Norway present: No e D.D.E. Jul Igjen
DDE’s Christmas tradition is as old as the band itself. Originally, the Christmas concert in 1992 – the first year DDE existed – was a combined tour finale and Christmas party. Back then, the repertoire consisted of borrowed Christmas songs as well as the fresh hits from Rai Rai. After a few years came the first version of the Christmas song Kanskje kjæm Nissen, but it wasn’t until 1999 that the band made a full album with their own Christmas repertoire. The CD No e D.D.E. Jul Igjen! consists of 13 newly written DDE Christmas songs that over the years have become an essential ingredient in the Christmas preparations for many people.
In 2008, DDE also had the great honour of being the artist on the Salvation Army’s Christmas album. The release, which was produced by Erik Hillestad, contained both DDE’s interpretations of classic Christmas songs and roughly half the album consisted of newly written DDE tracks.
The albums form the foundation of the family show No e D.D.E. Jul Igjen!, and for many, it doesn’t feel like Christmas without Et ord vart lys, Englespellet, Stor og fin gut, and the festive Julenatt over vårres by. Christmas is tradition, and every year DDE invites guests on stage; local children’s choirs, “stjernegutter”, and other surprises are pulled out of the sack when the guys host a cosy and intimate pre‑Christmas moment.
