The Nobel Prize in Literature has been announced, and as always you can divide the reactions into an enthusiastic “FINALLY!” and an equally clear and distinct “HUH?”
This year again, we will take a closer look at this year’s Nobel Prize winner in Literature, this time Anne Carson.
The panel is still taking shape, but currently confirmed are:
Ida Lødemel Tvedt, essayist and author who has written about Carson on several occasions, including in the essay “The Volcanic Ones” in Klassekampen. In connection with the announcement on October 8, she praised Carson in Morgenbladet and expressed her great admiration for the winner, while also admitting that she believes Carson may possibly be an alien. Meant in the best possible sense, we think.
Emma Helene Heggdal, Carson researcher and Associate Professor at the University College in Volda. She wrote her dissertation on waiting and poetic time in Anne Carson’s long poems, which in 2024 was awarded H.M. The King’s Gold Medal for outstanding research. She has also published an article comparing the poetics of Carson and Carson translator and poet Tone Hødnebø.
More guests TBA (to be announced)!
