Zum Hauptinhalt

In *Parola e musica – When Words Sing*, we encounter a lesser-known aspect of the Italian musical tradition: the intimate world of the romance, where poetry and music merge.

The programme spans from the late 19th century to the early 20th century and features music by Francesco Paolo Tosti, Riccardo Zandonai, Ottorino Respighi and Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco – set to poems by some of Italy’s most significant poets.

Here we encounter love and longing, nature and night, memories, desire and dreams – from D’Annunzio’s passionate ‘A vucchella’ and ‘Quattro canzoni d’Amaranta’ to Pascoli’s evocative ‘L’assiuolo’ and ‘Mistero’.

A selection of the poems will also be recited in Norwegian between the songs. This allows the audience to get closer to the words and experience how the same poetry is given new life when set to music.

Soprano Héloïse Baldelli and pianist Mauro Arbusti invite you to an intimate concert for those who love Italian culture – or who would like to discover a side of Italy you may not have encountered before.

With support from Comites Oslo and Stavanger City Council. The café is open before and during the concert.
