Patti Smith in Nynorsk is a musical and literary performance in which singer Kari Harneshaug and guitarist Kyrre Laastad interpret Patti Smith's songs in Nynorsk. The music is interwoven with Brit Bildøen's reading from Patti Smith's memoirs.
The translations are made by Samlaget authors Brit Bildøen, Agnes Ravatn and Ragnar Hovland, with support from the Norwegian Arts Council. The repertoire is selected by Kari Harneshaug and ranges from the debut album Horses (1975) to Banga (2012).
Brit Bildøen has also translated several of Patti Smith's memoirs into Norwegian, including Just Kids, M Train and Apens år.
The performance has previously been presented at a number of literary and cultural events, including Dei nynorske festspela, Bøker i Bø, Det Vilde Ord, MUNCH and De littære festspillene i Bergen.
Welcome to an up-close and different experience of one of rock history's most significant artists - in Norwegian and live at Die Tankstelle in Molde.
