BALLE MALURT BAND
From the streets of New Orleans to illegal clubs in Moscow. From weddings in Tuscany to grimy basements in France. From political demonstrations in Bergen to late-night parties in Bodø. No living-room floor is too hard, and no stage is too big or too small for Balle Malurt Band.
For more than twenty years, Balle Malurt has served the punk scene with his DIY spirit. Armed with nothing but an acoustic guitar, plenty of courage and not always the best judgment, he sings songs about love, punk rock and politics. Somewhere between Jokke, Oslo Ess and Per Bergersen you’ll find his brutally honest and simple songs that have taken him across the world.
A few years ago, Balle Malurt added his son Emil to the lineup, and together they completed two tours in Europe, Russia and Belarus. Two of Emil’s friends then joined to record the debut album “Skamviser” (Punkebjartes Punkeplater/Fucking North Pole Recs 2021), and together they charmed audiences in several Norwegian cities. His son has now been replaced by Runar “Kula” Johannessen (Valentourettes, Alle Gode Ting, Frank Znort), and the band has become a regular act at Kanalrock.
Balle Malurt Band is fun, lovable and brilliant live. The band always adapts the set to the audience and is happy to pull out a cover song or two when it fits.
